Aniseed Balls

What can be said about these little Aniseed spheres that as not already been said, I doubt there is a child born before 1975 who has not had these sweets confiscated from them in class. Aniseed balls are a type of hard round sweet sold in the UK, New Zealand and Australia. They are shiny and dark brownish red, and hard like Gobstoppers, but generally only 1 cm across.

In fact I think it was compulsory for every child at the time to have at least one sitting at the bottom of there trouser pocket collecting pocket fluff, to be consumed when the need arrived. They were a staple traditional sweet in the 50s and 60s in Australia, New Zealand and the U.K but have they become rare in recent years.

For me they personify perfection, never have I seen them with a scratch, a chip or as much a blemish on their ready brown shells, nor do they stick together even on the hottest of days they are simply perfect.

They are flavoured by aniseed oil, have a very strong aniseed flavour, and last for a long time in the mouth before dissolving. In the centre of the ball is normally a whole rapeseed. But the real trick to these babies is to see if you can pop one in your mouth, role around the tongue resisting the urge to crunch, in order to get to the little black aniseed seed at the centre, it's a journey many take but few can reach.

So, to have a good idea about nutrition habits to follow, use this article as a guide.

Although you want to eat enough food on a daily basis, you do not want to overeat. Make sure that you eat decent portion sizes every meal you commit to. Plan out all of your future meals and make the necessary adjustments so that you can obtain enough fuel for your body.

Do not get caught up in indulgences. Although it is fine every now and then to indulge in eating what you want, make sure that you make the right choices every day. Instead of drinking soda, go for water, and instead of having ice cream as a dessert get some fruit. The more right choices you make, the easier you make it for yourself to follow through later on. Start sooner rather than later, and before you know it, you are eating very healthy.

Many people do not follow healthy guidelines when they eat. They are not mindful of the nutrients that they may be missing, and they wonder why they are low in energy so often. They do not realize that if they just make several simple, healthy changes to the way they eat, they can feel a lot better. This article describes several ways that can help you change to a more healthy way of eating.

One common mistake that a lot of people make is that they do not put much thought into what they put in their mouths. When you eat, you should think about what you are eating. Ask yourself if what you are eating is nutritious, or is it high in fat, salt or sugar. Avoid grabbing a snack while you are watching television because that is when you do not pay attention to what you are putting in your mouth. It is easy to consume a whole bag of potato chips during one TV program if you are not conscious of it. If you must snack while you watch TV, grab some vegetable sticks instead.
